I came across this noteworthy item about a just discovered asteroid that will be hitting the Earth’s atmosphere on 10/7 somewhere over Sudan, and should be a quite spectacular fireball. I wish I were in a position to view this event as it sounds pretty cool, fleeting though it may be.

The Norwegion Centre for Geobiology research team recently discovered a new deep water hydrothermal vent in the North Atlantic at the highest latitude yet known. The dedication and persistence of this team was remarkable and should be acknowledged. Read about it – these fine people are doing exciting work in deep water exploration.
